Wish America a Happy Birthday this weekend!

Fairfield’s own Independence Day celebration at Penfield Beach and Jennings Beach is Saturday, July 4,with a rain date on July 5. The Atwood Express Oldies Band will be playing music from 5pm to 7pm at Jennings Beach. Penfield Pavilion will feature In Harmony from 7pm to 9pm. Explosive fireworks at dark!

There are also plenty of events and fireworks in nearby towns:

Thursday, July 2
Trumbull – Westfield Mall
Concert, family activities and fireworks from 6pm to 10pm.

Friday, July 3
Westport – Compo Beach
Fireworks.
Tickets are $30 per car and must be purchased in advance.
Rain date: July 6

Greenwich – Greenwich Point, Greenwich & Binney Park, Old Greenwich
Fireworks.
Park and parking pass must be purchased in advance.
Rain date: July 5

East Norwalk – Calf Pasture Beach
Entertainment for all ages before and after the fireworks from 6pm to 11pm. Children’s performances and musical entertainment.
Rain date: July 5

Stamford – Cummings Park
Entertainment with DJ begins at 6pm. Fireworks at sundown.
Rain Date: July 5

Stratford – Short Beach Park
Fireworks.
Rain Date: July 5

Danbury – Danbury City Fair at Danbury Fair Mall
Fireworks
Rain Date: July 5

Saturday, July 4

Weston – Middle School Field
Fireworks.

Trumbull – Packard Music Hall, South Lawn
Free Summer Concert by W.D. Packard Concert Band at 8pm. Fireworks at sundown.

New Canaan- Waveny Park
Music from the town band, games, fireworks, family fun at 5pm. Fireworks at sundown.

Rowayton – Bayley Beach
Music starts at 6pm. Fireworks at sundown.
Rain date: July 5

Danbury – Candlewood Town Park
Fireworks.
Rain date: July 11

New Haven – Long Wharf Park, Canal Dock Road and Long Wharf Drive
Fireworks.
Rain date: July 5

Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury
Spectacular 3-D Fireworks. Special “3-D” viewing glasses sold for $1 to benefit Prevent Blindness Tri-State.

Daytime Events on July 4

Southport – Downtown and the Pequot Great Lawn
Annual Bike Parade, Recipe Contest, & Old Fashioned Lawn Games from 10am to 11:30am. All decorated bikes, scooters, wagons, etc. are welcome. Food and entertainment.

Greenwich  - Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road
Raise the first American flag, sing patriotic songs, read passages from the declaration of independence with the Sound Beach Community Band from 9am to 10am.

Norwalk – Mill Hill Historic Park, St. Paul’s on the Green Episcopal Church and the First Congregational Church on the Green
Various events from 12pm to 3pm.  For more information visit the Norwalk Historical Society.

Darien – Goodwives Shopping Center
The 5th Annual Push-n-Pull Parade of bikes, scooter and wagons from 10:30am to noon. Food, crafts and live entertainment at Tilley Park following the parade.

Mystic Seaport – 75 Greenmanville Avenue (Route 27)
Experience an authentic 1870s Fourth of July celebration with special ceremonies and parade from 9am to 5pm.
 
Litchfield – Litchfield Green
An old-fashioned pet parade, sack races, period music, ice cream social and more from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
