Joe’s American Bar & Grill at 750 Post Road has outside seating and a boisterous atmosphere (good for noisy kids).
Kobis Japanese Steakhouse at 451 Kings Highway East features free entertainment while you eat – the hibachi table is great fun for kids and adults.
Martel Restaurant at 2316 Post Road features a classic French bistro menu adapted for American tastes and seasonally available produce from a local farm.
Olde Blue Bird Inn at 363 Black Rock Turnpike is in Easton but worth the trip and special mention. Very kid-friendly and offers a country style breakfast, brunch or lunch.
SBC Restaurant & Brewery at 2600 Post Road in Southport offers a great list of children’s menu items; each comes with a fruit cup, beverage and dessert. Kids also get a toy. Sundays are family night and a magician entertains from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
Tucker’s Cafe at 397 Commerce Drive is cozy and homey – a hidden gem with daily specials. Note: no highchairs; only booster seats are available.

The Rugged Bear at 1929 Black Rock Turnpike is founded by the owner of Eastern Mountain Sports and sells children’s outerwear, sportswear, gear, gifts and accessories. Other retail locations include Westport, Darien and Ridgefield.

MARKETS & BAKERIES
A & S Italian Fine Foods at 2079 Black Rock Turnpike is very popular due to their fresh meat counter, prepared food selection, sandwiches and gourmet groceries. 
Adam’s Bakery at 525 Tunxis Hill Cut Off offers delicious cakes, cookies, doughnuts, breads and pastries baked on premises.
Billy’s Bakery at 1885 Black Rock Turnpike features hearth~baked artisan breads, European~style pastries, gourmet products and goodies to please every palate. Voted Best Bakery 2009!
Fairfield Cheese Company at 2090 Post Road offers wide varieties of locally produced cheeses and specialty items.
Farmer’s Market at the Brickwalk at 1189 Post Road is held every Saturday through Labor Day, from 9am to noon.
Greenfield Farmer’s Market at 75 Hillside Road is open every Saturday through October, from 12:30pm to 4pm.
The Pantry at 1580 Post Road is a great local market with yummy prepared foods, deli section, pastry counter and much more.
Swanson’s Fish Market at 2439 Black Rock Turnpike is closed temporarily due to an unfortunate fire incident. Operations will move to the Bridgeport location at 230 Dewey Street.
